When flying to any high-profile event such as the Masters Tournament or the Super Bowl, private jet travel dramatically increases. To minimize the chance of a disappointment or an inconvenience, we recommend you plan your trip well in advance.
Flying into a city that is hosting a major event can complicate trip planning. Obtaining landing permits, crew visas and other items which normally take only a few days could be more challenging than usual. By booking your private flights a few weeks in advance, we can avoid any unexpected issues
Most airports that serve private jets don’t require departure and arrival time slots. However, that changes when Air Traffic Control anticipates higher than average demand. Unfortunately, most airports won’t confirm airport slots or aircraft parking until close to the day of the event. We recommend that you book your charter flight and confirm your departure and arrival times at least three to four weeks prior to the event. This will help ensure a smooth travel experience.
Due to the increased private jet traffic into the airport, aircraft parking becomes limited. This means that it may not be possible for the aircraft to remain on the ground while you are attending the event. Passengers should be prepared for additional charges for the aircraft to reposition to a nearby airport while you are in attendance. This can further complicate the coordination of your departure after the event has ended.
Pilots are required to conduct all flight related operations operations during the 14-hour period. This includes positioning the aircraft to your departure location. If your plan is to attend the event and return home in the same day, this can be a major consideration. To avoid leaving an event early, pilots can “rest” for 10 consecutive hours before returning to duty. Talk to you charter agent about options to ensure that you can attend the event on your time.
During any heavily attended event, availability for hotel rooms and ground transportation services becomes limited. Often times, hotel rooms will require non-refundable deposits or may become non-cancellable. Once you arrive at the airport, you rely on local ground service providers. Stratos can help you arrange local transport, but as the day of the big event nears, be prepared for a lack of availability.

After our flight, I sent an email to Joel Thomas (CEO) telling him about our experience. Joel called me last night to thank me for email. In part, my email to Joel said: Ernest Hemingway once said: "The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them". I told my wife when we were flying down: "Kyle (Jones) must sleep with his phone or computer on his pillow". It didn't matter when I called, texted, or emailed. We were on a commercial flight from Detroit to Salt Lake City when part way into our flight we got notification from Delta app that our delay was going to cause us to miss our connection. We were on a long weekend for MLK to go skiing in Lake Tahoe. We were going to be rescheduled the following day, thus missing half of our vacation. I had email only, and emailed Garett asking if they had an operator in SLC who could get us to Tahoe that evening. Within 20 minutes he came back with two quotes. By the time we landed he had set up the flight, emailed me the number to the shuttle to get from Delta terminal to the private terminal, and did it all for a great price. To throw things off even more, we were set to fly to Tahoe, but Delta somehow got our bags on the flight to Reno that they said we couldn't make. So at the last minute we changed from Tahoe to Reno for a destination. By the time we took the shuttle to the FBO our flight plan was set and we took off within 10 minutes. It could not have been more seamless. It literally saved our vacation. Time is the most precious resource we have and time with family is even more precious. Our daughter is a senior and this is one of the last trips we'll have with her; it meant a lot, and Stratos savings our vacation, allowing us to create memories, means all that much more. Thank you!! As always, your staff is a pleasure to work with, and are very good with their communication, etc. I (of course) wish we didn't have the snafu with your client cutting the trip short, only to change his mind - costing us an additional 3 hours of flight time (approx. $10,000) - since we cancelled a trip with another operator to accommodate his request to leave early. I think there should have been a consideration for a 2 hour cancellation fee or something there. We understand that this wasn't Stratos Jets' doing - but I believe your client should have been penalized in some way as he was informed we had another trip and he told us to cancel it to accommodate him. This was very disappointing (and financially detrimental) for us, especially as we had lowered the cost of the trip (in addition to removing all minimums) prior to booking. The only way it made sense for us to do that was to fly while sitting transient.

Glenn and his team at Stratos were amazing. Unfortunately, the operator provided last minute communication of a delay that caused problems on the arriving end of the flight. The operator was aware of the delay the night before and failed to inform Glenn (and in turn, me). The drive from the San Jose, CR airport to my final destination was incredibly dangerous due to my having to drive at night. The stress of travel was significant to begin with. The poor communication and the delay into the final destination caused another whole level of stress which is understood when you travel commercially, but not when you spend $17K on a private jet charter.

I made all of the arrangements for the charter flight for my boss and his family. I worked with Joel Thomas personally, who took the time with me to show the jet options available, all the while considering my boss's medical issues and care requirements. He emailed a jet comparison guide with photographs to view side-by-side so that I could make a wise and informed decision, and walked me through them over the phone. My boss called me the next day asking that I inquire as to who the local caterer was that supplied the food, as he wants to make sure that we use them in the future. They staged all of the food on beautiful white platters that looked classy and elegant, as though it was all prepared for red carpet guests. And every selection was freshly prepared that day and over the top in flavor! The pilot was very nice and personable and clearly cared about the comfort and safety of his passengers. The plane was extremely comfortable and very luxurious. The seating was perfect for the six of them and their cat, Molly! I received a call the next day from my boss's grown daughter, and all she did was rave about how it was first class all the way! She said I always do such a great job. LOL! It was Joel and the Stratos team that did all the work! My part was easy! Ohhh, and Joel also went out of his way to arrange for ground transportation upon their flight's arrival. Steve made sure we had everything we needed. The travel arrangements were made easily and were efficient. 3 friends and myself had our first experience with flying private with Stratos. The food provided was delicious, the limo and transportation was perfect, and the entire experience was well worth the money. A special thank you to Pilot Dan! He was very helpful and made sure we were comfortable. Definitely a memorable experience. Stratos is my go to place when flying private from this point forward.

The lounge in Ft Lauderdale was very professional, comfortable, and accommodating. Pilot was a real gem who charmed my first time flyer guests who started out nervous but hugged him on the way out! Would not hesitate to recommend for charter needs.

Stratos helped us make an amazing memory … I flew my elderly parents (90+ years old) from SC to PA for the day to spend time with our entire family. Everything from the planning, scheduling and coordination was seamless and went off smooth and in time. The pilots were so kind and gracious with my parents and made the 1.5 hour flight enjoyable. Joel and the team at Stratos Jet Charters were great. Even on short notice, Joel was able to charter a plane for me in California and made sure that it was a smooth process the whole trip. He was readily available when I had several last minute changes to the itinerary. Highly recommend.
