There are many reasons why people choose to fly private. There’s the convenience factor of being able to choose a private jet on short notice and be able to fly from anywhere in the world to anywhere else in the world. There’s the luxury factor of having the right catering, the right entertainment, and no child kicking the back of your seat.

But more than anything else, we see people choosing to fly private because they value their privacy. They want to be able to get where they’re going without having to go through an airport, stand in lines, be seen and recognized, and always be on their guard. People fly private because of anonymity.

Of course, there’s a price to be paid for all of those things. Flying private is not the same cost as flying commercial, even flying in the best first class. It’s going to cost more. But how much more?

What Is the Average Private Jet Charter Cost?

All rates are subject to change and availability, but if you’re flying a turboprop or light jet you can expect to pay somewhere between $2500 to $5000 cost per hour. This is a plane that will seat 4-6 people.

Moving up, the cost to charter a medium jet will be in the range of $6000 to $8000 per hour, and these jets will hold 7 or 8 people.

Large aircraft can start at $8500 but from there the sky’s the limit based on how big you really want. These are the jets that will fly you from New York to Dubai without batting an eye, easily carrying 10 or more passengers, and generally have more staff and accommodations.

So, doing the math, what is the private jet cost for air travel of about six hours. How much is it to fly private charter service from, say, New York to Los Angeles?

On a turboprop or light jet, the cost will be in the range of around $10,000 to $18,0000. A medium private plane will be $24,000 to $32,000, and a large jet charter pricing would start around $42,000.

How Much to Fly by Private Jet Per Person?

If you want to break the math down even further, on that six-hour flight by private aviation, the private jet charter prices per seats on a private jet, travel will be between $1600 to $3600 for a light jet, between $2400 to $4800 for a medium jet, and starting around $2500 on a large jet carrying 20 passengers.

Are Private Flights Worth the Cost?

When we look at things like hourly rates and break things down by passenger, there’s no surprise that private jet travel is more expensive than commercial flights. But you don’t want to fly commercial.

There are so many reasons to fly private, from shorter wait times to shorter flight times, to never having to go through a commercial terminal, to being able to drive up to your plane and board with no hassles–many of our customers know that even something like a 30 minute flight is worth it to them because their time is money.

The cost of business jets and private jets means that they have more time to be productive, make money, and stay anonymous.
