Whistler Jet Charter Information
The largest and most known ski resort town in Canada, Whistler is located on the Coast Mountain range of British Columbia, 75 miles north of Vancouver on the Sea to Sky Highway. Originally named London Mountain, the original ski area was developed by a group of businessmen in the early-1960s with the hopes that the 1968 Olympics would be hosted there. The area was later named Whistler after the ground-dwelling rodent known as a marmot, which makes a high-pitched whistling noise to communicate. The resort has since grown to include two peaks, Blackcomb Mountain, on the north end, and Whistler, on the south, which encompass 8,000 acres of terrain. Whistler has grown exponentially over the years, and even more since it co-hosted the Vancouver Olympics in 2010. The town now encompasses an area of 96.13 square miles, with a number of residential villages featuring large chalets and homes, used both seasonally and year-round. They are connected by a chain of lakes and paved trails, used by visitors, residents and the large number of young people who come from all over the world to work in Whistler.

Whistler Blackcomb not only offers some of the best skiable terrain in the world, but the resort is also open in the summer for mountain biking, hiking, ziplining, helicopter rides and more. The more than two dozen gondolas and chairlifts, including from Whistler’s main, Upper and Creekside villages, are open
to take downhill skiers, cyclists and hikers up to both mountains. The two mountains are joined by the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, the longest unsupported lift span in the world. The 2.7-mile long, 1,427-feet high journey over Fitzsimmons Creek gives breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Whistler is also known for its beautiful parks, lakes and golf courses that surround the town. Lost Lake, located just north of the main village, has cross-country ski and snowshoe trails in winter and bike and walking trails in summer as well as a small beach popular with swimmers. The Nicklaus North Golf Course, designed by famed PGA master Jack Nicklaus, lies alongside Green Lake. You can also golf at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club at the base of Blackcomb and at Whistler Golf Course alongside Alta Lake south of town. While most of the restaurants, shops and nightlife takes place in Whistler’s main pedestrian village, the site of Whistler’s original base, Creekside Village, also features a number of good après ski dining spots and shops. For arts and culture, visit Whistler’s recently opened Audain Art Museum, which showcases British Columbia art from the early 1800s. The Squamish & Lil'wat Nation Cultural Centre is where you can learn about the area’s indigenous population. The centre features a museum, gift shop and café, where you can try popular aboriginal dishes such as bannock tacos, venison chili and cedar plank sockeye salmon chili or chowder. A luxury day at the spa can be had at Scandinave Spa, just south of Green Lake. We were very disappointed in the catering service. The lobster was undercooked and the sevruga caviar we ordered turned out to be lumpfish. Which we did not eat. We intended to take all the food to our home with the lobster, which we were going to cook to make it suitable to eat, but when we arrived home discovered that our food had not been unloaded from the plane. The only thing we ate on the plane was a small piece of the lobster.

Everything was lovely, no hiccups. One piece of advice, when travelling to Turks and Caicos, make sure you have a clear address for your destination. The customs officer held us for twenty-five minutes trying to figure out where we were staying. That was a little frustrating, but it all worked out. We will most definitely use Stratos for our next trip.

As far as I can tell the flight was great. My nephew, his wife and their dog flew from California to Guam for a move. The airport they flew from was changed the day prior to departure due to weather. The catering however didn't make it to the airport so they were on the plane for 15 hours with only the complimentary snacks and the crew shared some of their food with them. When you fly private you expect things to go smoothly...that's why you're willing to pay the extremely high price for. In my opinion there were opportunities missed to make it right. Since they had to refuel in Hawaii there was at least 6 hours to get some kind of catering for them when they landed in Hawaii. I realize that catering needs 24 hours notice but someone couldn't gone above and beyond to make things right and get them fresh fruit and veggie platter with a plain hot pizza or something to give them something other than snacks. I know if the CEO of Stratos was flying this catering issue would've been unacceptable.
Carol - Thank you for bringing this to my attention and you are certainly right. The ball was dropped. I have spoken with the private flight advisor regarding the matter and our day of flight process was not followed. Not having something ready in Hawaii during the fuel-stop is truly a missed opportunity. I am truly sorry for our misstep and the poor experience this must have been for your nephew and his family.

This was probably the 3rd flight that the weather conditions were disregarded and I was told the flight was safe and would be comfortable. While we did land safely, the known turbulence was so intense I left my seat at one point, was thrown from side to side (no vomit bags around) and I was needing to do every breathing technique known to keep myself calm and not hyperventilate. While the crew and all people involved are extremely professional, disregarding weather reports with a strong wind advisory is irresponsible not only for safety but for the customers comfort. I learned upon landing that other flights in that same airport had cancelled so why would mine fly even with the concern I expressed. Will the company lose money to reschedule? I will find it difficult to trust them in the future on any flight with weather advisories.

Flight was for an elderly person and the tail number was provided a long time before the flight and I made sure the person flying had all the info written down by someone who could hear and got everything correct. Flyer had that until day before when tail number changed. I had to find someone who could hear me well and right down the correct info for the person traveling so he got it straight in his head and for driver.
