The National Airspace System (NAS) is comprised of a network of airspace, navigational service facilities, private jet airports, personnel, and equipment used to coordinate and control civilian aviation within the United States. The NAS is governed by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, policies and procedures.<\/p>\n

The NextGen of air travel<\/strong><\/h2>\n

With collaboration from air industry partners, the FAA established the Next Generation Air Transportation System<\/a> as a way to modernize and improve the daily operations, enhance safety and improve efficiency\u00a0of the National Airspace System. Scheduled to be implemented across the United States from 2012 to 2025, NextGen is a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art technologies that allow aircraft to move more safely and efficiently from\u00a0private jet airports to their destination.<\/p>\n

Some of the benefits\u00a0of NextGen include<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n

\u2022 Air traffic controllers have better tools to help them safely and efficiently track and separate aircraft. \u2022 Pilots have\u00a0access to more information in the cockpits \u2022 Airlines fly more efficient routes so that passengers\u00a0can\u00a0reach their destinations on time, while lessening fuel burn and other environmental impacts. With NextGen, weather-related incidents can be reduced through the use of improved sharing systems, new technology, and increased weather awareness. \u2022 The FAA can develop stronger partnerships with the aviation community \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
