A hangar is a closed structure used for parking all kinds of aircraft inside, including large and small charter planes. These structures are designed to protect the aircraft from weathering due to direct sunlight and the elements. They\u2019re generally constructed out of metal, but wood and concrete may also be used. The History of the Hangar The Wright brothers created the first documented hangar in 1902. It was constructed to store their glider, known as the Wright Flyer. It was also set up as an area to perform construction and repairs. As aviation became more popular, military groups began constructing hangars as a place to store their aircraft prior to the First World War.
