This enables the aircraft to land and take-off on water instead of runways; however, wheels can be found within the float in case a ground landing is required. Aircraft fitted with amphibious floats are typically referred to as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seaplanes<\/li>\n<li>Floatplanes<\/li>\n<li>Flying boats<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What are floatplanes used for?<\/h2>\n<p>While seaplanes aren\u2019t usually selected for private charter flights, they do serve a purpose. Because they are heavier and slower than most private jets, they\u2019re not the economical choice for most passengers. The type of passengers that would like for a private Cessna charter with the ability to land on water include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hunters<\/li>\n<li>Outdoor enthusiasts<\/li>\n<li>Backwoods campers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is because floatplanes are great for heavily forested regions with low populations and no road or runway access. Firefighters and search and rescue personnel also find seaplanes to be very useful for their operations. During forest fires, fire-fighting aircraft with land on lakes or bays to pump water into their tanks to drop on out-of-control blazes.
